Kype Fishing Magazine: Volume 6 / Issue 2 Fall 2015

The Fall 2015 issue of Kype Magazine is out.

I've been a big supporter of the magazine for a few years but am really enjoying the direction of the content since Aileen Lane took over the publishing reigns last year.

Tenkara Tuesday - Driftless Tenkara

Welcome to Tenkara Tuesday.

There's a really great article in the most recent edtion of the Kype Magazine e-zine on tenkara fishing the Driftless region of Wisconsin (and Iowa & Minnesota) by Mike Lutes of Badger Tenkara.

The article isn't the typical tenkara piece that you've probably already read in countless publications over the past few years...you know...Japanese tradition...kebari...simplcity...all that stuff. Rather it's a breakdown of the area, its trout, and some of the modified tenkara tactics the author has employed to find success on the endless streams one might fish.

It's a good reminder that if you're new to tenkara, it doesn't have to be all about reverse hackle flies and level line. In fact you can go a totally different path and still reap many of the rewards a tenkara rod can provide over "traditional" tackle.

Kype Fishing Magazine: Volume 5 / Issue 1

I've been supporting Kype Magazine here at Troutrageous! for a few years.  To be honest, when my blog was in its infancy, they were really the first "entity" to show any interest in it.  I was one of the first 2 or 3 blogs they mentioned on their website, and even though they've added a quite a few since, I only send good karma their way.

There's been a recent change in the management of Kype Magazine.  It's been mentioned in places like Midcurrent, HATCH, Facebook, etc...but if you're not in the know, George Douglas has stepped aside and Aileen Lane (whom you may recognize from MKFlies and other fly fishing related things) has assumed the reigns.  Not sure what that means, but I have a feeling it will be good to have a fresh energy around the publication.  I just hope she doesn't wise up and give me the boot from page 40!

Kickstarter - The Fishing Gods

Over here at Troutrageous! I've been maintaining a relationship with Kype Magazine for the better part of the last 3 years.  It's not unique, other bloggers also post the "free issues" on their sites, I just continue to do so because happen to enjoy the magazine and the people involved.

As such, I thought it would be worth mentioning a "Kickstarter" project that George Douglas (Kype's publisher) has currently running.  His goal - to publish a book called The Fishing Gods - which will ambitiously attempt to harness 500 years worth of fly fishing knowledge into a hardbound book, worthy of any fisherman's library.

Was recently contacted by Kype Magazine about doing a little link exchange.  Figured why not, I've read about Kype on various other blogs like Fin Follower & The Fiberglass Manifesto Facebook page over the past few weeks, read an online copy, and thought the magazine was a pretty solid stuff.  Plus it's topical - about Steelhead, Salmon, & Trout fishing.  Yeah, I'm easy like that.
